-Review of CALL class-
Throughout the first semester of TESOL program, I took a course called CALL, computer- assist language learning. The ultimate goal of this course is to learn useful technology tools, so it is able for teachers to teach students more efficiently by using technology in class. Every week, I learned how to use at least one useful tool. For mid-term project, a pair of students chose one application and introduced it to other class mates. This experience definitely helped me to extend my teaching skill. For final project, I created three lesson plans. I should include one short-semester and long-semester technology for each plan. After the project, I had a confidence that I can actually apply these technologies efficiently when teaching students and could have more chance to look up other helpful tools that I can use for educational purpose. I also liked getting to know a variety of technologies that I didn't know before. These tools will enable me to teach students in more interesting and efficient ways according to their ages and provide me with extensive useful teaching materials which can be helpful for teaching. Moreover, I liked using canvas for long semester technology. It was very convenient to use and saved a lot of time, because I can work on, check, and summit assignment through my smartphone any time and every where. I can also look up other students' blogger, so it is possible to share different ideas or opinion of others. However, it would be better, if we went over more technologies in class. We only went over one or two technology averagely. Also, I had a hard time to find cons of the technologies when reviewing them. Overall, this course was wonderful and one of my favorite course that I really enjoyed learning. I will take advantage of this course to teach my students in more efficient and a variety of ways by using the technologies. I will keep searching more technologies by myself and use them educationally.

-Review of Screen-o-matic-
-Review of Screen-o-matic-
Today I learned how to use Screen-o-matic. This is a free online
screen recording tool. It is free to install but you have to pay for a premium
one that has better features. This tool enables you to record the screen and
your voice while you are working on computer. Before starting recording,
microphone is needed. Today, I demonstrated the editing music tool. First, I
pushed the red button and explained and showed how to download and use the tool.
Lastly, I saved it as mp4 file. It was really easy to use. The only thing I needed
to do was to install and push the red button. You can pause whenever you need
to and restart recording too. Also, you can control the size of the screen.
After recording is finished, it is able to publish to u-tube, mp4 and AVI file
so you can share the file with others. The only thing I didn’t like about is I need
a microphone in order to use it. Overall, it is very useful and wonderful tool
when teachers need to demonstrate something on computer. Also even students can
use it to show how to do something that is complicated to explain in words. I
definitely would use it for educational purpose in the future and am willing to
learn more in-depth later.

-Review of COCA-
I got to know another useful web-site and learned
how to use it last week called COCA, corpus of contemporary American English.
It is a web-site that contains more than 450 million words that are searchable.
After searching words, you can see how the words are used in different genres such
as magazines, books and poem etc. and check frequency information of the words.
After using this site, I really liked that I could find out how frequent the
words that I searched were used and in where they were used. In addition, I could
use it for free. However, it was so complicated to use because I have to know the
instruction in order to use it properly and the instruction is not provided in
the web-site. Also, it looks very boring and busy to use, because it has tons
of texts. Overall, I think I would only use it for educational purpose. It will
be useful to use when I need to make a quiz or test. I can just use the
sentences from the site. However, I don’t think it is easy for students to use.
It will be somewhat challenged to use but it would be great if students know
how to use it.

-Can you think of any other inventions that their creators might regret? (E.g. dynamite, sun beds, plastic shopping bags) Suggest why they might regret them.
I think all disposable products such as plastic and paper bags and cups etc. are inventions that their creators might regret. I know they are convenient to use and I've also used them for a long time for its convenience. However, using disposable products is one of the biggest cause of polluting the environment since we throw away them after using them only once. It takes a really long time until they get decomposed. Most of them are buried in the ground, it causes soil pollution. Therefore, people should reduce use of disposable products.
-What are the greatest inventions of all time? How have they helped people? Have they also been used in any bad ways?
I believe a smartphone is the greatest invention. A smartphone has offered people more convenient life. For example, through a smartphone they are able to watch videos, send e-mails without computers and even work on their documents. Also they can find out bus and subway schedule and by down loading apps so they don't need to wait for a bus or subways.
However, on the other hand, nowadays many people are addicted to using a smartphone. Especially, children and teenagers spend a lot of time on using it every day. It will interrupt them socializing with their friends and family. In addition, it will cause sleep disorder and memory problem.

Today I experienced one of useful web-sites for English teachers and went over how to use it. It is called OneStopEnglish. OneStopEnglish is number one resource web-site for English language teachers. This site offers over 8000 resources, including worksheets, lesson plans, audio, flash cards and videos. In order to access to the site, you need to register, but it is free. Once you register on the site, you are able to find various sections at the top of the page such as business, exams, grammar and games etc. and use them as teaching materials. One of advantages of the site is that it provides a large number of resources for free including vocabulary worksheets, English activities and news articles etc. Also, when teachers prepare materials for their class, various materials and lesson plans on the site can be used and they will make the class more interesting. They are also able to use the materials according to levels and age of students. Finally, it enables you to search available jobs by category and country that match your dream job. However, there are not many jobs available. I was trying to find a job in Korea, there was no Korea in country section. I even tried to search jobs in Japan, but it produced no results. It was the only thing that I was disappointed at it. Overall, I was impressed by quantities of resources and a variety of materials and lesson plans. It will definitely give teachers the opportunity to teach their students in more interesting way and also use materials by the levels and age of their students. OneStopEnglish is incredible and really useful site for teachers and I can't wait to use it in the future.

Today we learned new technology called google docs in class. It is online collaborative writing tool offered by google. It enables people to create and edit documents collaboratively online in google site. So as to access to google docs, you need to log in google, go to drive and create documents and can share documents with others. One of the advantages of this tool was that it allows people to use it anywhere via computer, smartphone and tablet etc. if the internet connection is available. Also, through using this tool, they are able to work on documents collaboratively at the same time. When sharing the document with others, they can make comments on it. In addition, it is automatically saved every second so you don’t have to worry about losing a file. The only thing I felt uncomfortable about this tool was that the internet connection should be installed in order to use this tool. It should be used online only. Overall, it was very simple and easy tool to access to it. It would be a really great tool when working on group project. Moreover, it is very a convenient tool because it can be used anywhere when software such as Microsoft is not installed.

Today we learned how to another useful application called ‘Socrative’. It is basically an educational tool and a student response system that helps teachers to engage their students through educational games or exercises. It is able for teachers to prepare and create quizzes through using this tool via smartphones, laptops, and tablets. In order to access to this application, teachers have to go to Socrative.com, sign up for it and are able to create their own quizzes. After creating quizzes, it will provide room number and students have to type the room number, can join the room and solve questions. One of the advantages of this tool is using it for free. It also enables teachers to check who did and who did not and the grade right after students complete questions. In addition, they are able to create quizzes in several formats such as multiple choice, short answers and true and false and include images and explanations. However, it is slow and takes a long time when loading. I don’t think it is an internet connection problem. Also, it would be nice if it provides other language websites so it can be used in the entire world. Overall, it was very convenient, easy and simple to sign up and use. I believe that this application is able to increase attention and interests of students on what they are learning. It enables teachers interact with students and saves their time. Unlike PowerPoint, it is offered both online and offline for free and has a function of zooming in and out and rotating the pages. Zooming in and out is the main function of Prezi that is differentiated from PowerPoint. Using Prezi as a presentation tool is an efficient way in which to present and deliver the information more dynamically to audiences. After I explored Prezi, I found a number of advantages of this program. Firstly, it is offered free since you don’t have to download software such as PowerPoint. All you need to do is registering online. Also it is possible to create very unique and exclusive presentation to make audience interested in and grab their attention. Moreover, it is an accessible program to use it anywhere with a variety of devices such as a computer, tablet pc or smart phone etc. on the internet and also able to work with others at the same time online when doing a group project. On the other hands, it is more complicated than PowerPoint to deal with and has a limited space for adding files. In addition, it would distract audiences, especially old people, due to dynamic movement of the pages. To sum up, it was my first time to experience Prezi today. It is a very innovative and fancy program to use as a presentation tool. I was extremely impressed and attracted by Prezi, because PowerPoint was the only presentation tool I knew before. What I like the most about it is to make a presentation creatively and interestingly and help you to create it in your own style. Also I loved when I realized that I can easily access to this program anywhere -Review of presentation tool- the internet. Therefore, I believe that I don’t need an alternative tool of Prezi and highly recommend to anyone who haven’t explored it yet.

Review of blogger

First of all, I would like to use a blog as a diary. It is very easy and simple to use for everyone. People can post their good or bad experiences or thoughts on their blog. The posts on the blog will not be erased or disappear unless they delete the posts from it. It can help them to keep their memory so they can find and see the posts later whenever they want to see.
Secondly, I can share information and interests with others through a blog. Nowadays, since using internet or smartphone is generalized, most of people have their own blog and post their thoughts, interests and useful information on the blog. For example, people often post what restaurant they went to and what movie they watched and review how they were on the blog, so their friends can use the information to find which one is good.
Lastly, I can use it as an educational tool. I can post extensive information and educational materials on a blog so students can share and use the materials such as a video or sound file easily and fast from the blog. Also, it is easier to share educational data or information with other teachers on the blog so the students can see them from the blog and use them for educational purpose.
